Partner with the Holy Spirit
Whenever we want a change to take place in our marriage or in our mates we must partner with the Holy Spirit. How do we do this? We go to God in prayer and talk to Him about the change we would like to see. Often times I have found that God will change me and my attitude before he changes my husband. When I allow the Holy Spirit to be the enforcer and not me or my mouth, I have seen God make lasting changes in my husband. Having a bad attitude and being a nagger only prolongs the change that we want to see. Partner with the Holy Spirit. Work with Him not against Him.
“Work with Him not against Him.” I’ll have to make that a part of my prayers! Thank you!
This is so true. I do this and it works every time…and it’s not always my husband who changes.
I agree 100% I have witnessed this within my marriage. My husband drivs for a living and it is a requirment for him to wear a seatbelt. Although he has no problem doing so while at work, it was a different story when we would be in our vehicle, so of course I would always have something to say to him about not wearing his seatbelt and he would get so irritated, this was something that really bothered me because I had an aunt and uncle who both were in a very bad car accident and both of them died because they were not wearing a seatbelt. I did not want to keep saying anything each time we got into the car because I felt like I was nagging him and it would cause tension. I decided to just pray about it and shut my mouth. All I can say is that God does answer prayers because now when we get in to the car….. without me saying one word, my husband is the first one to put on his seatbelt 🙂
Wow, I must agree and I am currently working on me and trying not to focus on my husband. I must admit that it is not easy but I ask God for guidance. I will continue to pray for my husband daily and have faith that change will occur.
